Whole School Engagement
Whole School Engagement is the activities that the Unified Youth Committee within the schools conduct throughout the school year. The goal is for year-long engagement. Schools will strive to conduct at least 3 initiatives during the school year that create awareness, promote inclusion and encourage respect of all individuals.

“Spread the Word Inclusion” Campaign
The Spread the Word Inclusion Campaign inspires respect and acceptance by advocating for inclusive words and actions to end the discrimination of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Students organize a pep rally (or add on to an existing rally) designed to draw attention to an upcoming Interscholastic Unified Sports competition hosted by their high school.

Student organize an event before the winter or spring sports seasons to get students and staff excited and to encourage they to support the unified team.
Cool Schools
“Cool Schools” Polar Plungers are teams of high school or college students who plunge, raise funds, and raise awareness for Special Olympics together! There are three elements of Cool Schools:

Plunge into chilly waters to support SOPA athletes.

Take the “Polar Pop” Challenge and participate from the comfort of your school or campus. It’s a great way to participate virtually and still raise funds for Special Olympics.

The Cool Schools Rain Rally is hosted by a school or university and held on campus or a nearby community site. One or more fire engines are brought to create a rainbow shower of water through which students, teachers, and administrators go through with spirit!
