Virtual Summer Games
Thank you for celebrating with us during our 2020 Virtual Summer Games! This event was open to every registered athlete and provided a safe way for them to compete against their friends and peers from across the state. After our athletes trained and competed from home, everyone came together virtually to celebrate their success through a series of events that aired on Facebook and YouTube from June 12th – 14th.
We are grateful for the spirit, passion and perseverance that our athletes, volunteers, coaches, family and friends demonstrated throughout Virtual Summer Games (VSG) weekend. More than 1,000 athletes participated in 22 challenges representing the eight Summer Games sports (athletics, basketball, equestrian, golf, gymnastics, softball, swimming, and tennis).
Although we couldn’t be together for the Games this year, it was still a memorable experience because of the way that everyone came together to celebrate the most important thing that there is -- each other. VSG enabled us to capture the spirit of Games by offering an Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Competition Highlights, Olympic Village activities, Healthy Athletes and Healthy Habits opportunities, a Victory Dance and so much more! We even had a great deal of special guests join the celebration.
COMPETE FROM HOME
This competition is a safe way for athletes, young athletes/partners, Unified partners and coaches to keep the spirit of Special Olympics Pennsylvania alive by competing against each other from home! Please note that because of the ongoing pandemic, we have extended indefinitely the suspension of all in-person Special Olympics Pennsylvania events and activities, regardless of size.
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
- CHOOSE YOUR CHALLENGES! Check out all of the offered challenges and train at home. There are challenges in each of the 8 Summer Games sports that we typically offer: Athletics, Basketball, Equestrian, Golf, Gymnastics, Softball, Swimming & Tennis!
- TRAIN FOR YOUR CHALLENGES! You can train and submit your scores for up to three (3) events. Keep track of your scores as you go. The deadline has been extended, so you now have until Sunday, June 7, 2020 to train and submit your results.
- SUBMIT YOUR RESULTS! Train for all of your events first and keep track of your scores as you go. Fill out this form once you are done training, and submit your best event scores. You can also submit a video of yourself practicing or a recording of an encouraging message to share by May 31st! All qualifying scores are due by Sunday, June 7, 2020. ALL athletes who submit scores will receive an exclusive VSG t-shirt!
