The 2021 UNcathlon Raises $80,000
The 5th Annual Pittsburgh UNcathlon and the 2nd Annual Virtual UNcathlon Plank Challenge raised $80,000 for our athletes! We are so grateful for the 16 teams that participated in this year's in-person event. It was truly a joy to watch the camaraderie between all of the unified teams.
The UNcathlon, a decathlon with a twist, features 11 events - including 10 physical challenges and fundraising as the 11th event. Sixteen co-ed groups of six participants, that included a Special Olympics athlete per team, took part in trials that tested speed, strength and endurance. This year's challenges were rowing, medicine ball burpees, a two lap relay, one lap run, basketball free-throws, 20 yard shuttle, shot put, mini javelin, standing broad jump, and planking.
Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire (pictured above) on their UNcathlon victory! Not only did they compete well day of, but they also raised nearly $6,000!!!
