Monroe County Athlete Runs in Boston Marathon
Congratulations to our Special Olympics PA - Monroe County athlete, Ernie Roundtree, who received the rare and exciting opportunity to run for charity in the world-renowned Boston Marathon on April 15th.
Last year, Ernie competed in the Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle. There, he met Detective Sergeant Larry Crosman from the Mansfield Police Department in Massachusetts who encouraged him to apply for the Boston Marathon.
Thanks to Sgt. Larry Crosman, a member of the Hopkinton Police Association, Ernie was invited to run in support of the Association as well as Special Olympics Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
The Boston Marathon, the world’s oldest annual marathon, has a competitive qualification process in which about 30,000 people participate along a 26.2-mile course.
Ernie finished the 2019 Boston Marathon in 06:26:58, and we are so incredibly proud of him!
