SOPA Staff Changes – July 2019
Wenona Sutton, Marketing Communications Manager
Wenona Sutton recently left Special Olympics PA to assume the position of Director of Community Relations for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington. Her last day with us was July 12th.
Wenona contributed a lot to the success of this organization over the course of 5+ years, working across department and program to help advance our mission. She proved to be a jack of all trades, managing graphic design projects, marketing, public relations, social media and development needs. Her sense of humor, “team player” demeanor, strong dedication to completing goals, eagerness to learn, and desire to grow as an individual will surely be missed.
Roberta Melnyk, Local Programs Staff Accountant
Roberta Melnyk left Special Olympics PA to pursue another career opportunity as Finance Director at a YMCA in her area. Her last with us was July 12th.
Even though Roberta was only been with SOPA for a year and a half, her professionalism and dedication has taken the local program accounting process to another level. We are sure that she will be an asset to the YMCA in her new role and wish her great success.
Christine Anderson, Director of Foundation Relations
Christine Anderson will soon leave Special Olympics PA to assume a role as the first Grants Services Supervisor with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit #23.
For 10.5 years, Christine served in various roles at SOPA, but her most distinguished role was her leadership in our fundraising efforts with foundations and grants. During her time in this role, she has put SOPA in a much stronger position and has led to growing our foundation connections and network across Pennsylvania.
Christine’s last official day of employment with SOPA is July 24, 2019.
Kerry Wevodau, Area M Program Director
Kerry Wevodau has joined the Special Olympics PA team as its new Area M Program Director. Kerry comes to SOPA from Susquehanna Service Dogs where she served as their Development Director for the past 5 ½ years. Prior to that position, she was with WITF (PBS) and National Multiple Sclerosis Society (MSS) in various roles to include; Annual Fund Director, Sr. Director Organizational Development, and VP Special Events. With more than 20 years of non-profit experience, Kerry has had responsibilities for donor development, volunteer recruitment, as well as staff supervision and program expansion,
