Athlete Medical Expiration Extension
Managers, Assistant Managers, and Database Coordinators,
SOPA will offer a 6-month extension if an Application for Participation (“medical") expired from March 2020 through July 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Athletes must be able to answer “NO” to all three questions below. For example, if an Application for Participation (“medical") expires in June 3, 2020, the athlete would have until November 3, 2020 to renew.
- Have you had any major changes in your health status since your last Application for Participation was completed? Yes or No?
- Have you been infected with the COVID-19 virus (as this would require medical clearance)? Yes or No?
- Do you experience any of the following symptoms at rest or during exercise: difficulty breathing, chest pain, shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, lightheadedness, dizziness, visual changes, headache, cough, skipped heartbeats, irregular heartbeat or any other unpleasant physical symptoms? Yes or No?
If an athletes answers “yes” to one or more of the above questions, they must have a new Application for Participation (“medical) with a signature from an authorized medical personnel such as MD, DO, CRNP, FNP, or PA.
To run a report of athlete who qualify for this extension, go to User Reports and select the report Athlete Medical Certifications. In the minimum expiration date enter 3/1/2020 and in maximum expiration date enter 7/31/2020.
