Matching Gift Designations

It is imperative that local programs stress to their donors that they must designate their local program when they apply for matching gifts and specify Special Olympics Pennsylvania (not “Special Olympics”).

Matching funds are received at the State Office as a lump sum because they are handled by electronic transfer. Without a “designation,” we have no way of knowing what part of the lump sum might be meant for your local program.

With Donor Designation, “for XYZ County” will appear in the online matching gift report and the funds can be readily applied to your local program account. Without Donor Designations, the funds default to the State Office.

The State Office wants you to benefit from the generosity of your donors. Matching gift Designations will result in quicker and more accurate dispersal of funds.
