
Special Olympics Pennsylvania Beaver Stadium Run

Blue -White Weekend at Penn State University, University Park
A new Blue White Weekend tradition is born! Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities took take part in the first annual Beaver Stadium 5K Run/Family Fun Walk at Penn State University on Sunday, April 25, 2010 to benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania. The Run started in front of the Bryce Jordan Center (BJC) on Curtin Road and moved through Penn State’s scenic campus, concluding with runners racing through the Beaver Stadium Tunnel and onto the Nittany Lions’ home turf to the finish line.
Special Olympics Pennsylvania athletes, members of law enforcement, the community, and the official starter of the Run, Pro Football Hall of Famer Franco Harris – best known for his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers – participated.
Thank you to the runners and walkers who helped raise funds for Special Olympics Pennsylvania through this unique opportunity! More than 800 runners and walkers took part in the first Beaver Stadium 5K Run/Family Fun Walk raising more than $35,000.
