Please Note: Calling all athletes and supports of Special Olympics PA – Time is running out to register for our April 9th UNcathlon. Our team spots are almost FULL, so don’t miss your chance. We will NOT be accepting participants day of, so please register today. Our deadline for registration is Monday, April 3rd. For more details and to get started, visit: www.uncathlon.org.

The first ever UNcathlon to benefit Special Olympics PA (SOPA) is a one of a kind team challenge event that unleashes the transformative power of teamwork!  #UNcathlon

The UNcathlon event embodies the daily goal of SOPA: inclusion & acceptance through sport! An UNcathlon in all sense of the word, this has 11 events not the traditional 10 found in a decathlon. The event will be UNified, UNconventional & UNforgettable!

The event will take place on Sunday April 9, 2017 at the Schenley Park Oval, located at 1 Overlook Drive in Pittsburgh PA.

Our goal is to have 20 teams of 5, plus a Special Olympics athlete on each team. All teams must be co-ed. Our participants will be challenged both physically & mentally; and will be tasked with the additional challenge of fundraising money in support of nearly 20,000 athletes.

The day of the event, each team will take part in 10 physical trials, with each individual team member participating in 2 events. You and your team captain will decide which events each team member will take part in. The 10 events will test speed, strength and endurance. The challenge events will include:

1. Pull ups 6. 800 M run
2. Shot Put 7. 20-yard shuttle run
3. Dips 8. Long Jump
4. 40-yard dash 9. 500 M row
5. 400 M run 10. Mystery Team Work Round (As Many Rounds As Possible)

Since the UNcathlon is a fundraiser held in honor of Special Olympics PA, the 11th Event is Fundraising! Fundraising will account for a percentage of the overall score. The funds raised will help to provide training & sport competitions free of charge to our wonderful Special Olympics athletes.
