Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA) seeks qualified candidates for three new positions: Interscholastic Unified Sports Coordinator – Western Region Position; Manager of Interscholastic Partnerships; and Local Program Support Coordinator. Interscholastic Unified Sports (IUS) Coordinator

Major Function

The Interscholastic Unified Sports (IUS) Coordinator position will play an important role in supporting and managing school-based inclusion programming in the western region of Pennsylvania. Additionally, this position will assist with meeting overall Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA) strategy goals and objectives. This individual will work directly with teachers, coaches, student leaders, and administrators in high schools and help them manage quality IUS programming. This consists of Unified Sports (interscholastic high school teams composed of students with and without intellectual disabilities who train and compete together as equal peers); collaborative inclusive youth leadership; whole school engagement activities designed to promote awareness, education, and acceptance; and fundraising.

Manager of Interscholastic Partnerships

Major Function:

This position is responsible for development and implementation of all Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA), Philadelphia Interscholastic Unified Sports initiatives and partnerships through the use of sound management components, adhering to policies and procedures established by Special Olympics Pennsylvania, Inc., Special Olympics North America, and Special Olympics Inc. This individual provides oversight of all aspects of our partnership with the schools in Philadelphia and presents strategies for meeting organizational goals and demands. This role will critically lead and assess all segments of our Interscholastic Unified Sports (IUS) program; meeting all Unified Champion School grant requirements, encouraging and implementing youth leadership initiatives and unified sports. They will identify areas to improve, and sectors to be developed or changed for program growth in order to meet SOPA’s strategic plan and IUS objectives.

Local Program Support Coordinator

Major Function:

The Local Program Support Coordinator will be responsible for supporting Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA) local program needs through the direct support of field staff members and other assigned tasks for other departments. In addition, will assume other project leadership, as assigned.
